Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

In our sessions, we place an ultrasound wand under the client's chin, which captures real-time images of the tongue's movements. This allows clients to see their tongue's position and motion as they practice producing challenging sounds like /r/, /s/, and /l/. By visually monitoring their articulation, clients gain greater awareness and control, making it easier to adjust their speech in a supportive environment. At Ultra Sounds Clinic, we are dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve clearer and more confident communication.

How much does it cost?

Our pricing varies depending on the services you need. Please contact Ultra Sounds directly for detailed pricing information—we’re happy to help!

How long are typical sessions?

Can therapy be provided in a group setting?

Yes, arrangements can be made for group therapy sessions.

How long does it take to begin producing the correct sound(s)?

Treatment for articulation disorders is highly individualized, as each individual presents unique challenges and needs. There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, the effectiveness and duration of treatment depend on various factors, including the specific speech patterns, motivation, and responsiveness to therapy.

What factors can affect progress in ultrasound therapy?

Several factors such as age, attention span, ability to visually “see” the tongues movements on the ultrasound screen, ability to carryover production outside of treatment and many others can affect progress.

Can adults also benefit from ultrasound therapy?

Yes, the visual feedback provided using the ultrasound method for speech sound production can be beneficial for adults with residual speech sound errors, speech sound errors due to hearing impairment, or individuals working on accent reduction for speech sound production in the English language.

What is Visual Biofeedback?

Visual biofeedback is a technique that provides individuals with real-time visual information about their physiological processes, helping them gain awareness and improve their performance in specific tasks. In the context of speech therapy, it involves displaying visual representations of movements—such as tongue positioning—so clients can see how their actions correspond to desired outcomes.

By using tools like ultrasound machines, clients can observe their tongue's movements as they attempt to produce sounds. This visual feedback helps them understand the correct articulatory positions and encourages them to make adjustments in real-time. As a result, visual biofeedback enhances learning and facilitates more effective practice, leading to improved speech clarity and confidence.
